Shaw's Seeks Restitution After Ripped Off at Self-Scanner

Also in Westborough District Court, a man is answering to charges after being irritated he had no place to charge his cell phone.

Monday, Nov. 26  Joseph Rieck, 57, of 6 Burghardt St., Worcester, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Shrewsbury police to face a charge of larceny over $250. Judge Vito Virzi released Rieck on personal recognizance and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Jan. 31. According to a police report, Rieck is accused of avoiding paying pay for items at the Shaw's Supermarket, allegedly using the self-scan  checkout on some 34 separate occasions between July and October to pay for only some items in his shopping cart. The store is seeking restitution of $2,074.36.  Keith R. Avella, 38, of 233 Main St., Easthampton, was arrested by Northborough police and charged with malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. …

Aaron Wade, 38, of 15 Liberty St., Worcester, was summonsed to Westborough District Court after Grafton police filed a complaint June 14 which charged him with trespassing and disorderly conduct. Judge Robert Calagione dismissed the charges. Mark A. Blank, 30, 10 Buttercup Lane, South Grafton, was arrested on Nov. 14 by Grafton police and charged with receiving stolen property and selling defaced machinery. Judge Robert Calagione continued the case to Jan. 5. Andrew Pappas, 19, 70 Pointe Rock Rd., Worcester, was summonsed to Westborough District Court after Grafton …

Ramos, 34, 165 Mendon Ave., Pawtucket, was arrested in Grafton July 5 by State Police. He was charged with OUI drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Judge Vito Virzi continued the case to Aug. 12. Andrew J. Deal, 24, 126 Worcester St., Grafton, was arrested on June 10 in Shrewsbury and charged with OUI-liquor and speeding. Deal pleaded guilty and Virzi sentenced him to one year suspended probation and loss of license for 45 days. Deal was also ordered to attend a program and …
