Following the deaths of several children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is working to get the recliners out of homes.
At the request of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, four retailers are voluntarily recalling Nap Nanny baby recliners after several deaths and more than 100 cases of a child falling or nearly falling out. The companies participating in the recall are Amazon.com, Buy Buy Baby, Diapers.com and Toys R Us/Babies R Us. The models include Nap Nanny Generations One and Two and the Chill™ model infant recliners. "CPSC is warning parents and caregivers that these baby recliners contain defects in the design, warnings and instructions, which pose a substantial risk of injury and death to infants," the agency said in its announcement. It's the fourth recall for the brand-new Escape. Ford is offering loaner cars to buyers until they can fix the problem.
The 2013 Ford Escape is undergoing its fourth recall since its introduction this spring. Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 89,000 new Escape SUVs and Fusion sedans because the engines can overheat and cause fires. The Escape is a top seller for Ford. The 2013 version went on sale in the spring, and it already has had problems with coolant leaks, cracked fuel lines and carpet padding. Both the Fusion and Escape are among Ford's top-selling vehicles selling a combined 427,000 already this year, according to Autodata Corp. Banana Boat sunscreen is being recalled after some of the products resulted in users catching fire, reported the Huffington Post. The voluntary recall includes UltraMist Sport, UltraMist Ultra Defense and UltraMist Kids. There have been five reports of people suffering burns after using the sunscreen in the past year, according to a spokesman of Energizer Holdings, which makes Banana Boat sunscreen. Two types of treats are being recalled because of possible salmonella contamination.
Kasel Associated Industries is voluntarily recalling its Boots & Barkley Roasted American Pig Ears and Boots & Barkley American Variety Pack Dog Treats because of possible salmonella contamination. The products were distributed nationally through Target stores in August 2012, according to the FDA. Hannaford Supermarkets has issued an alert about a label printing error on its Red Velvet Cake Truffle and Triple Chocolate Cake Truffle, which was sold in the bakery department. The cakes may have contained “undeclared allergens.” This means that people with allergies or “severe sensitivity” to egg, milk, peanuts, wheat, soy and tree nuts should not eat these cakes, according to an announcement by the FDA.
