Bishop Robert McManus was arrested on Saturday evening.
Following a hit and run in Narragansett, RI, on Saturday night, Worcester Roman Catholic Bishop Robert McManus was arrested for drunk driving, reported CBS Boston. CBS Boston also ran a statement from McManus, which was released on Monday morning, in which he wrote, "There is no excuse for the mistake I made, only a commitment to make amends and accept the consequences of my action. More importantly, I ask forgiveness from the good people whom I serve, as well as my family and friends, in the Diocese of Worcester and the Diocese of Providence." McManus was arrested while at his vacation home shortly after the hit and run. He will be arraigned on Tuesday.

Also in Westborough District Court Wednesday, a man was sentenced to probation on a drunken driving charge.
Wednesday, Nov. 21 Bentley N. Morrall, 23, of 245 Pine Cone Strand, Acton, was arrested by Northborough police and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Judge Vito Virzi released Morrall on personal recognizance and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Jan. 2. According to a police report, an officer allegedly found Morrall passed out behind the wheel of his car at the Honey Farms market just after 2 a.m. Tuesday. Eduardo Diaz, 33, of 2A Pelham St., Apt. 2, Worcester, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Shrewsbury police to face a charge of permitting unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. The following cases were heard in Westborough District Court.
Monday, Oct. 1 Brian A. Dolliff, 35, of 43 South St., Apt. 2, Westborough, was arraigned before Judge Vito Virzi on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, third offense, and failure to stop or yield. Dolliff had been arrested by Westborough police early Monday morning on East Main Street. In his report, the arresting officer said he had to swerve his cruiser to avoid being struck by Dolliff's car. Dolliff was released on $2,000 bail, ordered not to drive a motor vehicle, and is due back in court on Nov. 14. Jeffrey M. Lavin, 35, of 3 Versailles St., Marlborough, was summonsed to court on a complaint from the Southborough Police Department on charges of driving with a suspended license and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. …

Wednesday, Sept. 26 Timothy L. O'Regan, 25, of 127 N. Main St., West Boylston, was summonsed on a complaint by Westborough police on charges of operating with a suspended license and speeding. Judge David Locke set a pretrial hearing for Oct. 25. Erin L. Moran, 37, of 76 Fisher St., Westborough, was arrested by Westborough police on Sept. 24 and charged with operating under the influence of liquor. According to a police report, Moran was involved in a two-car accident at Milk and Maynard streets at 7:54 pm. and told the arresting officer that she had consumed three beers earlier in the evening.
