New Sex Offender in Grafton

Roger Edmonds lives on Pleasant Street, the police report.

A Pleasant Street resident has been designated a level 3 sex offender by the Sex Offender Registry Board, Grafton Police Chief Normand A. Crepeau Jr. has announced. Roger Lee Edmonds, 59, lives at 189 Pleasant St., Grafton and works at 4 Industrial Rd., Unit 8-10, Milford. He was convicted of two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child younger than 14 on Aug. 24, 2011. He was convicted on three counts of the same charge May 18, 1983. Level 3 sex offenders have a high risk to reoffend, according to the Sex Offender Registry Board, which makes the determination. The community is notified because of the degree of dangerousness the individual poses to the public, according to the Sex Offender Registry Board. Edmonds is not wanted by …

I hope that authorities continue to get hold of these offenders as these are one of the factors that threaten the community these days. I am a parent and I'm worried and I don't want anyone to experience threatening cases like this especially my kids. I am always receiving requests for information on registered sex offenders in Town so I thought it would be prudent to rerun this particular column. I’ve also included some ideas on talking to children about personal safety provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).  QUESTION: I was recently notified that a sex offender moved close by.  Could you tell me exactly how is a sex offender classified and how can I find out if there are any other sex offenders living in the area.  I have young children and think this information is helpful to parents.
