Be aware of the dangers, the police chief urges.

Question: I see that the Grafton Police department recently conducted alcohol compliance checks to ensure that bars and package stores are not selling liquor to minors. Can you tell me about alcohol and how it affects young people? Answer: The Grafton Police Department shall continue its efforts to curb underage drinking by conducting alcohol compliance checks of all establishments licensed to sell liquor in Grafton. Understand the right way to use the 911 emergency system.

I’ve received several requests to rerun this column pertaining to 9-1-1, its proper use and how it works with cell phones. QUESTION: What can you tell me about the 9-1-1 system used to make emergency calls to police and fire departments?   ANSWER: The following information may be found on the State 9-1-1 Department web site at www.mass.gov: When the 9-1-1 number was inaugurated, it was intended as an easy to remember, no-coin method of reaching the correct law enforcement, fire and EMS agency.  A 9-1-1 system is considered either basic or enhanced.
