Grafton Credit Union CEO Resigns

Ed Lopes has been the business's leader for nearly a decade.

Correction: In the original article we reported that it was not specified where Lopes would be working. That information has been updated. After eight years of leading the Grafton Suburban Credit Union, CEO Ed Lopes has announced his resignation. In a press release Chariman of the credit union Andrew Nelson said the board accepted Lopes resignation and wishes him the best of luck. “Grafton Suburban will carry on without missing a beat,” Nelson said. “The Board has in place a succession plan for this kind of eventuality. While a permanent appointment is decided, CEO responsibilities will be shared by Chief Financial Officer Terry Dorilas and Chief Operating Officer Martha Dean.”  According to the release Lopes helped Grafton Suburban take …

Youngsters Get Interest in Banking

The banking program teaches the importance of saving from a young age.

Students learn about money and the importance of saving first-hand at the Grafton schools. You can take that to the bank. Students in kindergarten through grade 5 participate in a school banking program, sponsored locally by the Grafton Suburban Credit Union and nationally by schoolsavings.com. Once a week, students make a deposit at school with the help of an adult volunteer. The volunteer takes the student funds to a local bank or credit union and makes a lump sum deposit. The next business day, Websaver processes the funds through the Federal Reserve Banking System. Student deposits appear on their regular account statements.
