Two Rescued After Snowmobile Falls Through Ice

An adult male and his ten-year-old passenger fell through thin ice on Lake Ripple.

It has been cold for most of the past month, but as one snowmobile driver and his passenger found out yesterday, it hasn’t been cold enough. Michael Vento was driving with a 10-year-old boy on Lake Ripple at 5:30 last night when their snowmobile went through the ice, sending both passengers in to the water. Jessica and Roger Zaleski were at their house on the lake when the incident occurred. According to a press release from Grafton Police Chief Normand Crepeau, it was a call from Jessica that got the police response to save the passengers. “Jessica stated that they heard the sound of the snowmobile stop and she and her husband checked to discover that the snowmobile and passengers had gone through the ice,” Crepeau said. “Jessica said she…

Updated: Alzheimers Patient Found After Two-Hour Search

The Massachusetts State Police is assisting the Grafton Police Department with a search in town.

2:55 p.m.: Scanner reports indicate that the missing woman has been found at the Sutton Fire Station.  2:30 p.m.: Grafton Police are searching missing woman this afternoon for a woman who was last seen between 11 a.m. and noon at the Grafton Public Library, according to scanner reports.. The 67-year-old woman reportedly suffers from Alzheimer’s and was wearing a pink coat and black pants at the time of her disappearance. The Massachusetts State Police Airwing, k9 and field units are also providing assistance with the search.  Stay with Grafton Patch for more information as it becomes available.

Grafton Man in Serious Condition After Rollover Crash

Police responded to the crash on Institute Road just before midnight Thursday.

A 24-year-old Grafton man remains in serious condition after getting into a crash Thursday night. Michael Shaughnessy was driving on Institute Road near Westborough Road late Thursday when he crashed his car, police said. According to police reports, a caller came across an overturned vehicle with the male subject lying in the road. "On their arrival, officers found a vehicle in the roadway and a male subject with serious injuries lying in the street. Responding personnel searched the vehicle and surrounding area but were unable to locate anyone else," a report from Police Chief Normand Crepeau Jr. said.
