Where to Buy the iPhone 5 in the Grafton Area

Much anticipated Apple product is coming Sept. 21.

The next generation iPhone is coming out later this month, Apple announced Wednesday, and there are a number of places in the area to buy it.  The Apple website points customers to the Apple Store in Natick as well as some Apple resellers closer to Grafton, including AT&T, Best Buy, Target and Verizon in Millbury; Walmart and AT&T in Northborough; Verizon and Radioshack in Westborough; Sprint, Verizon and Macs at Work in Shrewsbury; and Radioshack in Worcester. Click on this link to search for a full list.  The smartphone officially goes on sale Sept. 21 at 8 a.m., but all stores may not stock the iPhone 5 immediately.  The new iPhone is thinner and lighter than the last two generations, but it is taller to accommodate a bigger screen. …

Shiny New Changes at Apple

Apple has a new iPhone 5, and Sony Tablet

Grafton technology fans could have a very merry Christmas. The iPhone 5 is rumored to be out in time for the busy holiday season this year. These are some of the things that I expect the new iPhone to have.  Ships with iOS 5 Apple always makes a improvement to their operating system every year for their newest iPhone and iPad. Probability: 100% Ships with faster processor  Currently the iPad 2 has a 1GHz A5 dual core processor and since the Android phones already have dual core processors, it's a safe bet that the next iPhone will have a dual core processor.  Better battery life  The battery life from the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 4 improved 40% and it will probably improve from the iPhone 4 to iPhone 5  If Apple includes LTE 4G capability…

Hot Summer of Technology

Logitech Revue, Windows, and Lion are among the newsmakers.

July 20 saw the release of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, providing over 250 new features. Also on this day, Lion became one of the best selling versions so far for Apple by selling 1 million copies within its first day of availability in the Mac App Store as a download only. For the people who do not want to spend hours waiting for it to download, you can get it this month for forty dollars more in the Apple retail store or Apple resellers. To see all the new and improved features you can go to Apple.com/mac. To make sure your applications will still work in Lion, go to RoaringApps.com. It is now less than six months months to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012) and now we start to wonder what company will make the next largest TV (bragging …

July in Like a Lion

Month features Apple products and an excellent pocket camera.

WWDC (Apple’s World-Wide Developer’s Conference), which was held in San Francisco from June 6-10 2011, announced an updated operating system for both Mac computers and devices that use iOS (the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad). For the computers, 10.7 Lion will be out this month and has over 250 new features. It will be available only in the Mac App Store for $29.99 and can be installed on all computers that use the same Apple ID. iOS 5 has over 200 new features including new applications such as a built-in reminder (a To-Do list) and newsstand (for gathering subscribed-to magazines and daily newspapers with the look-and-feel of iBooks), notification center (to find those messages that disappear once you “slide to unlock”). There is also a …

Pac-Man Fever Reignites

Happy birthday, Apple.

The options offered by today's electric cars are electrifying. The Tesla Model S is an all-electric car that can go from 0-60mph in 5.6s. Now before you say that electric cars have a limited range the Model S can do up to 300 miles per charge, and since there is no combustion there are zero emissions. The car in the best conditions can top out at 120mph; the dashboard display is a whopping 17in touch screen with 3G connectivity so you can look up the best restaurant to bring your family. The battery pack is below the floor and gives the car more torsional stiffness keeping the car from bending. When it comes with safety Tesla focused on aerodynamics, weight reduction, and decreased rolling resistance, with an electric motor and strong …

Can You Hear Me Now?

Verizon is gaining market share and the new computers on the block.

Verizon has already grabbed more than 7% of the market share of American iPhones. With Verizon’s growing share, at&t has sent out selective text messages giving valued customers 1,000 free rollover minutes by responding with “YES” to the 11113020 number. HP has released  information about an updated webOS-based tablet named the TouchPad. The new TouchPad will have a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 9.7in screen, HP Touchstone, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 3G. There are two size options: 16GB or 32GB; the models include a 1.3 megapixel camera for video calling over the Wi-Fi connection. The prices will be announced later. Unlike the Apple iPad, this will have true multitasking and Adobe Flash to allow you to view the web the way it was designed.  The …

Scratching the Surface of Technology

The answers from the predictions from January, the true and the actual.

January had a lot of new and exciting products that got released and/or announced and here are some of the top products that I have chosen.    ioSafe performed another extreme demonstration to show off their new product called ioSafe Rugged Portable at the American Shooting firing range in Las Vegas. The demonstration involved firing live rounds at the aluminum hard drive version, the least rugged of the portable versions. The drive was first submerged in water for a few minutes and then exposed to ten rounds from a 12-gauge shotgun using Winchester Expert Game Load Steel ammo. The hard drive was retrieved and slammed on the ground and then they tried to crush it with a vise. After all the abuse, it was connected to a laptop using a USB 3.…
