I've had experiences at both the BP and the Mobile Mike's stations in Grafton. At BP I've never gotten straightforward instructions on what to do next for my inspection, when it was complete the guy came in and just stared me down, clearly uncomfortable and confused I had to ask him if I was done and how much I owed. I've taken my car to get repaired at the Mobile twice now, and the first experience was much better than the last. A nice young man helped with all my questions immediately the first time. But the next, I waited for a price point for an hour without anyone even acknowledging me or telling me why it was taking so long. Just like the first time I did not get a phone call to tell me my vehicle was complete and had to call them. When I got my car, all the paperwork in my glove compartment was scattered all over the passengers seat, this seemed very odd as they should have just called me if they were looking for specific paperwork (which they didn't). All in all, I am not impressed, I'm not sure I'll go back again.

A state inspection debacle. Car failed inspection at Mike's. Spent $700 with my repairer (not Mike's) having repairs done. I present the vehicle to Mike's for re-inspection, they fail it again. My repairer calls to ask why the vehicle was failed a 2nd time ... they won't tell him why ! Couldn't believe it.
Took the vehicle to another inspection station .. they passed it immediately.
It's pretty clear what's going here ...
Don't use this shop
I broke down on the Pike while heading back to Virginia and called up Mike. He assured me he could get a part that day for my lousy Ford Hybrid Escape. When I arrived, he made arrangements to run diagnostics and offered to take me to wherever I wanted to go locally to spend the afternoon. He kept me informed of the progress throughout the day and, when he finished fixing the vehicle, explained exactly what had gone wrong. He definitely saved my day (and, at a completely reasonable price)!
I find the below reviews shocking coming from Mike's business. We have used Mike as our go-to guy for car repairs since we moved here in 1997. The work is always spot on and speedy. An estimate is spot on and the final bill rarely exceeds the estimate.
We actually have a car there right now. We took it by for an estimate, both financial and time. We brought it in this morning and will have it back today.
With all the cars we've had over the years, we've never had an issue with any work done by Mike's. We've been treated with respect every time.
I had a very similar experience as the previous reviewer. I was yelled out irrationally while I was waiting to get my inspection sticker on my car. The Owner approached me completely unprovoked...suspicious that I was "talking about him with another customer" just because we were chatting to pass the time while we were waiting in line. I was shocked and dumbfounded. I have never been treated like that by a business in the service industry...ever. I know of numerous locals he has turned away.
I normally would support local business whenever I can. But after what I had experienced in his shop, I would never go back again. First, I was shouted at when I asked whether there was a chance to get it fixed the same day. "NO! CAN'T DO IT! CAN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT TILL NEXT DAY OR SO! What happened to customer courtesy? I should have moved it then because he didn't work on it until the day after. Next, he messed up the PCM. The excuse he had was he wouldn't know everything about fixing cars and he didn't even credit me back anything. Finally, I had enough and took it to the dealer. I had to paid an arm and leg to repair his mistake. If you just want to have an oil change or a simple tire change at this place, I guess that's fine. But anything more than that, BEWARE!!!
My experience was not pretty! They failed the inspection and did not mention that it failed.. They said we are all set. Our poor brains did not realize that a brand new Acura would fail inspection at Mike's place. They forgot to return the registration form as well. They are rude to some people but looks like they are nice to some others! You check your luck first which category they put/set you in when they see you!!!!
