First Annual Iron Chef Competition held at UUSGU

Harvest beef stew, orange glazed Cornish hens, pork roast, and barbecue meatballs. All of these scrumptious entrees were presented at the first Annual Iron Chef Competition at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton and Upton. Conceived, organized and led by Teen Youth Group members, Victoria Godfrey, Declan O'Flaherty, Abigail West and Juliana West, the evening was a fundraiser for the Group and for the Grafton Food Bank.

Eight chefs, 4 groups of two, prepared an entree and a dessert which had to contain the secret ingredient, cranberries. Each dish was judged on presentation, creativity and taste. The judges were the diners, who definitely had the best part of the evening by sampling the incredible dishes prepared by the chefs. Desserts were cranberry bread pudding, chocolate mousse with mascarpone, cranberry risotto and a crustless cranberry tart.

In the end, the Youth Group raised $266 for the Food Bank, which will provide meals for twelve families in our area.
