Olympian Shannon Miller visited the Gymnastics Learning Center in Shrewsbury last week as part of a tour to help promote an major gymnastics event in Worcester.
Miller, 35, won five medals at the 1992 Olympics, and won the gold on the balance beam in 1996. An ovarian cancer survivor, she also oversees a foundation dedicated to fighting childhood obesity.
Miller was visiting the area in part to help promote the American Cup, which will be held March 2 at the DCU Center in Worcester. One of the most prestigious international invitationals, the American Cup features many of the world's top all-around gymnasts, the DCU Center notes on its website.
