Press release from the Grafton Special Education Parent Advisory Council

The Grafton Special Education Parent Advisory Council is pleased to be hosting its next meeting on Thursday, March 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Room B211 on the second floor at the new Grafton High School, 24 Providence Rd.

Our topics will include an update on the Walker Report recommendations and a discussion of the recent letter from the U.S. Department of Education regarding extracurricular athletics for students with disabilities. As always, Arnold Lundwall, Special Education Administrator for Grafton Public Schools, will be in attendance to answer any questions that you may have.

In addition, we will be welcoming special guest Rachel O’Hara from the Center for Living and Working, Inc., based in Worcester. She will be describing the services that they provide to help people with disabilities learn to live more independently.  She also has a scheduled  presentation at Grafton high school on March 21 at 1 p.m., but she has graciously offered to join us  this evening to provide an opportunity for those unable to attend a daytime event to learn more and get their questions answered.

Please feel free to reach out to new SPED PAC chairperson Kat Malone at graftonspedpac@outlook.com with any questions or suggested agenda items.

The Grafton Sped PAC is open and welcome to all parents of children with special needs and others involved in the special education system.  We are a state mandated group who works in conjunction with the special education department in the public schools to educate and support children and families with special education needs. We are also a resource to parents and a meeting forum for reporting and discussing parents concerns to the school staff and administration.

For more information on our group and our activities, please see the Grafton Public School website at www.grafton.k12.ma.us, and then click on Special Education.
