Grafton Interim Assistant School Superintendent Chosen

Nashoba Regional High School Assistant Principal Tracey Calo was appointed Monday night.

Grafton's interim assistant school superintendent will be Nashoba Regional High School Assistant Principal Tracey Calo.

The Grafton School Committee appointed Calo on Monday night, at School Superintendent Dr. Jay Cummings' recommendation.

Assistant School Superintendent Lucielle Boutiette announced last month that she will retire this fall, ending a 30-year career in the Grafton public schools.

Calo, of Rutland, has been Nashoba's assistant principal since September 2006, according to her resume'. She also has been an instructional coach and an English teacher during her tenure at Nashoba.

Cummings said Calo has  "an outstanding reputation as an instructional leader, with a very strong background in training and curriculum development."

"I think she's going to be absolutely fantastic," Cummings said.

Calo holds a B.A. in English-American Studies from Western Connecticut State University, an M.A. in Education-Secondary English from the University of Connecticut, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Fitchburg State College.

Calo and Boutiette have spoken a number of times, Cummings said.
