Assistant School Superintendent Retiring

Lucielle Boutiette has worked in the Grafton public schools for 30 years.

Grafton Assistant School Superintendent Lucielle Boutiette will retire this fall, ending a 30-year career in the Grafton public schools, Superintendent Dr. Jay Cummings told the school committee Monday night.

"It doesn't seem possible. It almost seems like yesterday that I was getting a call in August to be a Kindergarten teacher here," said Boutiette, who later added that she'll have two grandchildren entering South Grafton Elementary School this year.

"My children were entering school at the same time, and so in essence we started together. It almost seems like a flash."

Cummings said Boutiette has made a "significant difference in the lives of hundreds of students and staff" over her career, which encompasses 18 years in teaching, and 12 in adminstration.

"Doing that for 30 years can certainly change a school system. She's certainly done that," Cummings said.

Cummings said Boutiette has been "nothing short of a joy to work with."

He said he will advertise for an  interim superintendent over the next few days. Boutiette  will help with the transition.
