Police say Kiya, a dog found beaten and tortured in a Quincy park, had formerly lived in a Grafton home.

Animal advocates and concerned citizens are posting relentlessly on social media the story of Kiya, now dubbed "Puppy Doe," a pit bull found in a Quincy park so brutally tortured that she had to be euthanized shortly thereafter.

According to the Boston Herald, Kiya's original owner was forced to give the dog up for fear of losing her homeowner's insurance, and she was given to a Grafton woman. Police tell the Herald that while the original owner is "heartbroken" and very helpful, the woman from Grafton hung up on reporters after saying she had given the dog away and had no further information.

As of Monday, Sept. 22, a reward fund started a group on Facebook was up to $15,000, said Boston Magazine, for any tips leading to the arrest of the perpetrators. "In Search of Justice for Puppy Doe" said, on its page, that "This is a place to come together, mourn and demand justice for this tortured & abused dog who deserved so much better from humans. We are sickened by this story and won't stop until the person(s) responsible are brought to justice!"

Anyone with information is asked to call Quincy police-617-745-5774 or Animal rescue league 617-226-5610. If you had seen this dog and know who this woman gave her too, please make the call. This woman from Grafton obviously has something to hide. Justice will be served

She must know who she gave the dog to. No phone number? Email? Name? Is she covering for herself or someone else?

wonder why thye're not publishing the name of the woman
Amanda coleman September 24, 2013 at 09:19 AM
I'm sure the Grafton woman is part of the investigation ,thats why it hasn't been released. sounds like a cold hearted b**** who knows who did this or possibly directly involved in this horrific act.
Kelston September 24, 2013 at 05:07 PM
The total reward $$ from all sources is in excess of $20K and growing.

I would bet my life that this Grafton woman is a middle man. She adopts the dogs, comes across as sweet with a "good home", and then turns around and sells them to these monsters. Why else would she not speak to the police!!! She should be shot. No need for this type of useless piece of shit in this world.
Amanda coleman September 25, 2013 at 08:32 AM
I hope they get these people soon! I think of that poor dog everyday. Over 20 k in reward money so far

The Grafton women is being uncooperative??? No dog lover would be unwilling to help eradicate the evil that still is on our streets. She is a front person and if there is a shred of decency in her, she should get these monsters off our streets. If the police let this slide, I fear for her wellbeing too. By the way, does the Grafton women have a name?
Laura Simonetti September 25, 2013 at 12:17 PM
How can the Grafton woman not answer questions from the police? Isn't that obstruction of justice? And let me tell you, if I had given my dog to someone and the next time I saw it she looked like Puppy Doe, I would personally meet her face to face to ask what happened to my dog. I'm sure she will be willing to talk to the police after I talk to her. She'll probably start off by saying "Get this crazy b***h off of me!"

Annie- I don't know why they haven't released her name ,the police have it,the media has it too. The original owner knows. Maybe they cant sat until the investigation is over? Usually if the media knows they release it. there is a facebook page for Kiya (justice for puppy doe) There they have photos of happier times in her life.

Autopsy has been released
Kelston September 25, 2013 at 04:00 PM
Yes it has and it's particularly stomach turning. Why on earth someone would choose to be involved in such a thing, or protect someone involved is beyond comprehension. It's only a matter of time before the abuser moves on to people.
Amanda coleman September 25, 2013 at 04:39 PM
Probably moved on to a new puppy,we need to get all the sickos connected to this. What the hell! Start with the Grafton bitch, Not cooperating . Throw her in jail
Annie Livingstone September 25, 2013 at 05:24 PM
We need this women's name out there because people who know her might have information that could help crack this case- especially if she is uncooperative.
Kelston September 25, 2013 at 05:41 PM
I agree, put her name out there. Like a sex offender registry, animal abusers and those involved in the sale or trade of animals for abuse should be known to the public. As stated earlier, the individual(s) responsible WILL move on to people. The public should have this information so as to protect their pets, themselves, and their children from this filth.
Kassie Koleckar September 25, 2013 at 06:38 PM
Why won't they release that B****es name??? Maybe because there are people out there that would do unspeakable things to her until she told them who she gave the dog to.
JHL September 25, 2013 at 06:56 PM
I suspect that she was either a middle man or gave Kiya to a relative.
Kelston September 25, 2013 at 07:38 PM
JHL - I agree. I'm thinking a family member.

I think there could be a way they could find out info from this Grafton woman, someone has to know who she is. I am absolutely sickened by her, taking this dog and then giving her away..AGAIN. Hopefully they aren't releasing her name because they are investigating this, and not to protect her.
Annie Livingstone September 26, 2013 at 10:08 AM
Grafton is a small town, someone saw this dog or heard it crying.
Suzanne Ladd September 26, 2013 at 10:37 AM
If I am not mistaken, I believe I read that the original owner gave the dog to the woman in Grafton, but offered to take her back and find her a new home if the Grafton woman couldn't keep her. So why didn't she call the original owner instead of giving the dog away? In addition to that, she is not helping by refusing to talk to anyone. Shady if you ask me. She is apparently involved somehow. Either she is the abuser or she is protectingthe abuser. Well, here is something to keep in the back of your mind miss Grafton woman... while the law may punish those responsible, many will think the punishment won't fit the crime and there will be vigilante justice. Someone somewhere will get justice for that poor innocent puppy. People who abuse the innocent are cowards. Be afraid, all who are involved, be very afraid.
JHL September 26, 2013 at 10:38 AM
Kiya may not have stayed in Grafton for too long. The woman who got her from the original owner was either complicit or a dupe. In any case she knows more than is being reported. It may also be as simple as she gave Kiya to someone she knows in Quincy (not necessarily a family member) and now doesn't want to turn in that person for what will likely be some prison or jail time. However, she needs to do the right thing and get the sociopathic torturer off the streets.
Annie Livingstone September 26, 2013 at 02:18 PM
Call Bruce Ayers, representative in Quincy to support his bill which will be harsher on animal abusers, there must be someone out there who has this Grafton women's name. How big a town is Grafton? I feel like going door to door and asking for help. Does Grafton have a police department??? Does Grafton have a newspaper? Nothing in the press? The press doesn't seem the least bit interested in this.
Vanessa DeHart Williams September 27, 2013 at 06:35 AM
This might be her..https://www.facebook.com/kayla.pelc.9/photos_all I'm not saying it is, but this has been going around on Facebook.
Annie Livingstone October 30, 2013 at 09:33 PM
So Kayla, you POS, how do you feel now about dog flipping? They caught the guy you made $40 off of, nice work, please walk yourself into court and share a cell with your friend. We are all watching you.

Being cruel just to be cruel is a disgusting crime be the victim animal or man. That being said....you people are not stable.
