Grafton Woman Charged in Theft from Children's Charity

Grafton Police have charged Andrea Merrill, 33, with the theft of $9,600 from Kai's Village, a non profit that collects funds for families of children with cancer.

A Grafton woman is charged in the theft of $9,600 from Kai's Village, a charitable organization set up to collect funds, initially for the family of a young boy who was stricken with cancer, and which now contributes funds to families of children with serious illnesses.

The Grafton Villager reported Friday police charged Andrea Merrill, 33, of Grafton, with larceny over $250 by a single scheme. Kerri L. Rezendes, who founded Kai’s Village in memory of her 2-year-old son, is identified as the victim in court paperwork, according to the online news site.

Kai Rezendes, 2, died in December 2012.
