Grafton Man Charged With Driving Under Influence in RI

Rhode Island state troopers arrested Nicholas Athanas, 33, of 5 West View St., Grafton, at 1:56 a.m. Friday.

A Grafton man was arrested in Rhode Island early Friday and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Rhode Island State Police said in a press release that troopers arrested Nicholas Athanas, 33, of 5 West View St., Grafton, at 1:56 a.m. Friday.

"Athanas gave two breath samples, both with a reading of .000 B.A.C. Athanas was subsequently taken to the Westerly Hospital where he submitted to a blood test. Athanas was then released with a summons for an arraignment at (Third Division District Court) next month pending the results of the blood test," according to the press release.

Athanas also was issued a summons for having "a civil amount of marijuana," Rhode Island State Police said.
