Worcester SafePlace: Support Group for Suicide Survivors

The Worcester SafePlace group will be meeting this evening, July 1, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at The Bridge. SafePlace is an open group for people who have lost a loved one to suicide. It provides an atmosphere of acceptance for exploring feelings that are often not understood by others. These meetings are free, on-going, and drop in – there is no registration necessary. Trained volunteers and staff from Samaritans, a statewide suicide prevention organization, facilitate this group. All of the participants are suicide survivors and facilitators have lost someone to suicide as well.

The Worcester SafePlace group meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at The Bridge located 4 Mann Street, Worcester, MA  01602.

For more information about SafePlace and other services offered by Samaritans, please contact the Grief Support Services team at safeplace@samaritanshope.org or 617-536-2460.

Samaritans’ mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide by alleviating despair, isolation, distress and suicidal feelings among individuals in our community, 24 hours a day; to educate the public about suicide prevention; and to reduce the stigma associated with suicide. We accomplish this through services that emphasize confidential, non-judgmental, and compassionate listening.
