Shoemakers Edge Warriors in Lifeguard Olympics

Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your week in Grafton.

It's Tuesday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Grafton to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. The Shoemakers won the Silver Lake Beach Lifeguard Olympics.

The Shoemakers defeated the Warriors, winning two of the three water-related events Thursday, Beach Director John Stephens told Grafton Patch on Monday.

The Shoemakers included: Will Faden, Dylan Guyer, Grace Morgan, Ryan Shumeyko, Brendan Stock, Erin Stock and Nick Treu. 

2. The finance committee is at minus-one.

Town officials prefer candidates from Precincts 1, 2, 4 or 5. Residents interested in filling this vacancy should send a letter of interest to Town Moderator Ray Mead, c/o Board of Selectmen, 30 Providence Road, Grafton, MA 01519, or e-mail idec@grafton-ma.gov.

3. Do you like organ music?

The Grafton Senior Center hosts an organ social at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

4. The Grafton Public Library now accepts "awesome."

Items that patrons consider awesome now may be left in the "awesome box" at the circulation desk, courtesy of the Harvard Library Innovation Lab.

5. Support public awareness of Alzheimer's.

Grafton residents Annette McCarthy and Dan Smyth are co-captains for Team Grafton in this year's Worcester County Walk to End Alzheimer's, set for Sunday, Sept. 29, at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester.
