Have a question you'd like to see answered on Grafton Patch? Email danielle.horn@patch.com.They say you know you're from Massachusetts when you drink iced coffee year-round, but one Patch reader wanted to know how true this really was. Jennifer Palumbo, owner of Stir Crazy, says it's more true than many people actually know. "About 80 percent of our business is Iced Coffee. We sell just as much in the winter as we do during the summer," Palumbo said. Looking to try a new iced coffee? See the video above to learn what flavor sells the most at Stir Crazy.
With summer weather starting to descend upon us, Grafton residents are looking forward to spending some time in the town's parks. Most specifically, residents have been asking about the Silver Lake beach. One resident remembered the Doggy Dip Days that the recreation department has held at Silver Lake and asked Patch if the town was doing any this year. Well readers, the answer is: yes. In fact, the town is doing two this year. On June 22, the day before the beach opens for the summer, residents will be able to take a dip with their canine pals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The beach will also close…
We at Grafton Patch noticed that the police log is often full of entries noting the different areas where police are doing radar enforcement around town. So, we wondered: how do police prioritize requests for speed limit enforcement, and what should residents do if they believe speeding is a problem in their neighborhood? "We get special requests and we'll send officers there," Police Chief Normand A. Crepeau Jr. said. "We have to prioritize. Some people will want radar on a dead end. We have to decide where to put the resources." If a resident notices that a particular car often speeds …

In fact, we've received a handful of emails over the last couple of years from people who argue that they were "summonsed," not arrested, and therefore should be omitted from the log. A summons is not an arrest. But the end result is often the same, and we include both summonses and arrests in our log, to be fair. So, let us clarify the difference between a summons and an arrest, and the reasons police might use one over the other when looking to charge a suspect. "There are certain …
After a full day of ran and winds, some Grafton residents have told us on Facebook that they don't have power. According to National Grid's Power Outage Central, the outages were caused by an issue with an overhead power line. A representative said issues like that are generally the result of a blown transformer in town. The same representative said there are currently 28 customers without power. Power is expected to be returned by 5:00 p.m.
Swirls & Scoops and the Red Sox aren’t the only businesses having opening days next month. Stir Crazy Coffee and Sweets, Grafton’s newest coffee shop, aims to open by April 16, co-owner Stephen Donofrio said today. Residents have been asking about the business since the sign was posted and photographed yesterday by Grafton Patch. The business’ approval process has gone through two Board of Health meetings. The business is scheduled to be discussed at the April 9 meeting, Donofrio said. If everything goes well there, he hopes to open the next week. Donofrio, who lives in Douglas, will own the …
