My name is Ranjan. I have been a Grafton resident for 30 years. I’ve had decreasing kidney function for the past several years and now my kidneys are failing. There is only one cure for this disease, a kidney donated by a healthy person. For the past 2 years I have been listed on the national list to receive a kidney from a deceased donor. If I rely on the waiting list to receive a kidney from a deceased donor, it could take additional 5 to 7 years. I don’t have that much time.

For now, if I don’t find a compatible live donor, starting kidney dialysis is my only option. Dialysis does not cure kidney failure; it’s a temporary life support system.

Undergoing the painful dialysis treatment 3 times a week (4 hours each), even
for a short period of time, increases the chance of organ rejection after a
kidney transplant from a live or a deceased donor. This makes my search for a
donor that much more urgent.

I have type AB+ blood group which is universal recipient and that means a kidney donor from practically any blood group (O-/ O+/ B-/B+/A-/A+/AB-/AB+) would match. 

It is hard for me to make this appeal. However, I do believe that in times of crisis, people step up with incredible acts of compassion, generosity and caring. All I need is one special person for me to live.

I know that in times of crisis, people perform incredible acts of compassion, generosity and caring. All I need is one special person to say “yes”. It is important to know that there could be practically no cost to the donor. Everything will be covered by my insurance.
