Walkers Step Up for Brain Tumors

Walk was held Saturday, Oct. 1 in Boston.

Residents of Grafton joined with people from around the country to raise a united voice in the fight against brain tumors by taking part in the Boston Brain Tumor Walk, one of the nine walks that take place throughout the year to support the fight against brain tumors through the National Brain Tumor Society.

The 5K walk took place Saturday, Oct. 1 on Castle Island in South Boston.

National Brain Tumor Society is a nonprofit organization inspiring hope and providing leadership within the brain tumor community. It exists to find a cure and to improve the quality of life for those affected by brain tumors.

This is done through funding strategic research, delivering trusted information, and advocating for those affected by brain tumors. In the last three years, NBTS funded more than $10 million in brain tumor research throughout North America.

Each year, more than 210,000 adults and children in the United States are diagnosed with a brain tumor. Brain tumors are the leading cause of solid tumor cancer death in children, under age 20, and the second leading cause of cancer death in young adults age 20 to 39.
