'Love Is in the Air' at Apple Tree Arts

A performance is scheduled Feb. 12.

 

Apple Tree Arts presents the acoustic and vocal talents of its faculty, staff and friends in “Love is in the Air” concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12 at the Congregational Church of Grafton, 30 Grafton Common.  

Admission is $10 for adults and free for students and children under 18 years old. Tickets will be sold at the door.  

“The concert features popular classics and fun songs from the past,” said Donna Blanchard, executive director of Apple Tree Arts and musical director of the Community Chorus. “This is a great opportunity for the 25-member chorus to perform alongside inspired professional musicians with the accompaniment of masterful pianist Tina Ho.''

Accomplished faculty members will play several different musical instruments. Myra MacLeod will play the Celtic fiddle. Tim Gruntman will perform two acoustic guitar solos including “Romanza” and “If I Only Had a Brain” by H. Arlen and E.Y. Harburg. Linda Bento-Rei, renowned flutist will perform a classical number, brillant Christine Tsen will play the cello and Ho will play a piano solo.

 A variety of classical, jazz and popular music will be included. Monica Hatch, well-known masterful vocalist, will perform. Education Director Jan Barlow will sing a classic jazz ballad and Lisa Scarlett, theatre arts director will sing a Broadway number. Theatre arts faculty member Susan Upham will perform a song from the musical “South Pacific.”
