5 Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 23

Several schools are holding open houses today.

 

Each morning, Grafton Patch presents “5 Things You Need to Know,” a collection of announcements, events, and reminders that can help you plan your day.

1. The Grafton Farmers Market is open from 2 to 6:30 p.m. today on the Common.

2. The brush disposal area will be open this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (There are no weekday brush disposal hours in August. Weekday hours will resume in September). Additional Saturday hours include:

  • Saturday, Sept. 8, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 29, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Brush stickers are required and FY13 Stickers are on sale now (valid through June 30, 2013). For more information, call the Town Administrator at 508-839-5335, ext. 180 or email bosgroup@grafton-ma.gov.

3. The Grafton Public Library will hold a Hunger Games gala event from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today. This program will include discussion, games, trivia, pizza, and watching hte movie. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Grafton Food Bank as admission. This event is for ages 11 and up. Space is limited and registration is requested. Call 508-839-4649.

4. Both the North Grafton and South Grafton elementary schools will hold a Practice Day for incoming Kindergarteners from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today as well as an Open House for first grade students from 1 to 2 p.m.

5. Millbury Street and North Street elementary schools will hold a Back to School Open House from 2 to 3 p.m. today. Students are invited to visit their classrooms and meet their teachers. For more information on school events, visit the district website by clicking here.
